Plečnik's baptistery, Mengeš
The parish St. Michael Church (župnijska cerkev sv. Mihaela) is the oldest and the most prominent monument in Mengeš. The semicircular niche of presbytery is the remnant of the old Romanesque church, while the altar area is from the 15th century, from the Gothic period. The oldest monument in Mengeš boasts frescoes of Janez Ljubljanski and baptistery of Jože Plečnik. There are also a confessional and baptistery designed according to the Old Christian baptistery by the most eminent Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik.
