Jarški dom mountain hut on the Mala planina alp, Velika planina
The Jarški dom mountain hut on the Mala planina alp is situated on the southern side of the Velika planina alp, the biggest active shepherd’s pasture in Slovenia. At the altitude of 1520 metres, a terrace affords an impressive view of the herdsmen’s settlement and the Ljubljana Basin. The hut is an excellent starting point for a less than an hour of walk to the Chapel of St. Marija Snežna and other sights of the Velika planina alp. The hut, which is open year-round, serves stews, sausages, homemade kvašeni sirovi štruklji (rolled cheese dumplings), žganci (buckwheat spoonbread), strudels and other seasonal dishes. For larger groups, advance reservations are appreciated.
